Anniversary Weekend 2021

The Community Anniversary Weekend is an annual event for members and invited guests.  Sadly we did not manage to hold this last year due to the pandemic, so this time it will be all the sweeter.

Location

The event is held at the Rock UK Frontier Centre, Addington Rd, Irthlingborough, Wellingborough NN9 5UH.  This is about 1 hour 45 minutes drive from Acton.

Times

We will start at 10:00 on the Saturday morning (yes, it's an early start), but registration is from 9:00.  We will finish at 3:30 on Sunday afternoon.

Attendance

This is a Community event so the assumption is all members will be present.  Of course this will not be possible for everyone so please let Tom know if you cannot be there.  If you are not sure, please decide and confirm to Tom at least one week beforehand.  We need to allocate rooms and organise discussion groups and services, and we need to pay the Frontier Centre for meals, so knowing who is coming really helps.

Dietary Needs

Talking of meals, please let Tom know if you have any specific dietary needs or allergies.  He will inform the Centre, and you will be given a different coloured wrist-band on check-in so we can give the right meals to the right people.

Payment

Please pay be electronic transfer before the weekend.  Jonathan will be happy to take cheques once there.  Please do not make us have to chase you...

Covid Guidelines

Testing

  • Everyone should do a test on the Friday before departure.  Test kits are available free of charge from chemists.  At registration people will be asked to confirm they have tested and are negative.  Anyone who has not tested will be asked to test there and then.  We will have test kits with us.

  • Sadly we will have to ask anyone with a positive test result not to attend, or to go back home if they have already arrived.

  • Anyone experiencing Covid symptoms during the weekend must notify Tom or a coordinator, test immediately (we will have kits there), and if positive we will have to ask them to go home.

Ventilation

  • Ventilation will be a priority so expect as many windows to be open as possible in the meeting halls and dining area.  This means they might be cold so please bring some warm clothes.

Face Masks

  • UPDATE - Following our experience of being together on Sunday and government guidelines we will require people to wear masks during sessions in the main meeting rooms - e.g. worship times, talks, Lord's Day, Sunday services, prayer meeting, entertainment.

  • We recommend that people wear masks while queuing for their meals.

  • The usual exemptions for those with particular conditions and for children will apply here.

Entertainments

As always we are looking for some classy, comedic or choral contributions.  Failing that, it's just us. Please dust of your old acts, or prepare new ones, and come ready to dazzle us with those talents you have been hiding.  Lloyd and Larissa are coordinating the acts so please let them know what you have to offer.

What you need to bring...

  • Towels (the Centre provides bedding but not towels)

  • Torch (especially if you will be out and about on Saturday evening - it gets very dark)

  • Warm clothes (September evenings can be chilly, and depending on the weather, September days can also be chilly, and we will have all the windows open...)

  • Cup / mug (to help with the environment and with Covid you may want to bring your own cup or mug)

  • Whatever you need for Saturday afternoon activities.

Streaming

We will be streaming parts of the weekend online so that those who cannot be with us in person can still participate in part.  Items we plan to stream are the talk on Saturday morning, the Lord's Day, the prayer meeting on Sunday, and at the Yate's request, the entertainments!

To access the stream please go to the 'Antioch Community London' YouTube channel.  The stream will appear int he channel about 15 mins before each of those sessions starts.

Sunday Services

On the Sunday morning there will be a protestant service put together by our own community members and a Catholic mass celebrated by Fr John McKenna who will join us for the weekend.

Health, Safety and Security

  • Parents, outside of sessions you are responsible for your children, but of course you know that.

  • The River Nene runs by the bottom of the hill and is a particular danger, especially for young children.

  • Locking rooms - we do not hand out room keys by default.  The site is secure and we have never had an issue with theft.  However, if you do want a room key you can ask a member of the Frontier Centre staff directly.  There is a £10 charge for any keys not returned at the end of the weekend.
